Gathers the wars of classical antiquity and the early Middle Ages whose religious history is a matter of state cult, oracle and forced conversion rather than of a later organized world religion contesting another: the Greco-Persian Wars and their oracles, the Second Punic War's crisis of Roman state religion, the Maccabean Revolt, the First Jewish-Roman War and the Kitos War of the Jewish diaspora's own rebellions against Rome, and Charlemagne's Saxon Wars of forced Christian conversion. A member belongs here for predating the classical Crusading and Islamic-conquest era or for turning on the religious practice of a pre-Christian or early Christian state rather than a confessional or communal divide.
