This page groups historical figures by the formal religious office or title they held, such as a bishop, an imam or a high priest, connecting a person to an institutional role rather than only their personal biography. Wikipedia notes that a church's polity "may describe its ministerial offices or an authority structure between churches," the same kind of structure that defines what an office actually was. Browsing this way lets a visitor see everyone who has held one particular office across history.
