Brahmic Script Family

Writing systems descended from the ancient Brahmi script of the Indian subcontinent, used across South and Inner Asia to record Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh and Jain scripture: Brahmi itself and its descendants Devanagari, Gurmukhi, Sharada, Siddham, Siddhamatrka, Prachalit, Ranjana and Tibetan. Belongs here: any script whose letterforms trace back to Brahmi, whatever tradition currently uses it. Does not belong here: the unrelated Semitic-derived scripts of West and Central Asia, grouped under the Semitic Script Family, even where the traditions that use them neighbor Brahmic ones geographically.
