Celtic Pagan Festivals

The four Gaelic cross-quarter festivals, Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh and Samhain, marking the midpoints between solstice and equinox in reconstructions of pre-Christian Celtic religion. Attestation is thin and largely medieval Irish rather than contemporary pagan; the tidy four-festival wheel now popularly associated with them owes as much to later folklore collection and twentieth century Neopagan synthesis as to any single ancient source.
