John VIII of Constantinople, born John Xiphilinos in Trebizond around 1010, was a Byzantine intellectual and jurist who served as Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople from 1064 until his death on 2 August 1075. He was the uncle of the legal writer John Xiphilinus the Epimator and is considered an innovator in the methodology of jurisprudential research.
