Colonial-Era and Indigenous Conflicts

Gathers conflicts in the Americas centered on the suppression or defense of an indigenous or colonial-subject religious practice: the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 against Spanish suppression of Puebloan religion, the Wounded Knee Massacre following the Ghost Dance movement, the Lakota Summit's own 1993 Declaration of War Against Exploiters of Lakota Spirituality, Brazil's Canudos War against a millenarian community, and Mexico's Cristero War fought by Catholic rebels against the state's anticlerical laws. A member belongs here for a conflict over the practice, suppression or exploitation of a colonial-era or indigenous American religious tradition.
