About

The Diocese of Louisiana and the Two Floridas was created in 1793 and reorganized as the Archdiocese of New Orleans in 1850, making it the second-oldest diocese in the United States after Baltimore. Its mother church, the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France, faces Jackson Square in the French Quarter and is among the oldest cathedrals in continuous use in the country. The archdiocese serves Catholic parishes across the greater New Orleans area.
