Darul Uloom New York (DUNY), founded in 1997 in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, was established "to create an institution in which our children could be educated in a humble Islamic environment with true and traditional Islamic values." The institution combines a masjid and madrasah, offering Qur'anic and Islamic studies alongside academic education for the local Muslim community.
