About

The Faisal Mosque stands at the foot of the Margalla Hills at the north end of Faisal Avenue in Islamabad, and was funded by Saudi Arabia and named for King Faisal. The Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay designed it as a folded concrete tent rather than a domed building, and it was completed in 1986. It is the largest mosque in Pakistan by covered capacity and is administered through the International Islamic University Islamabad. It holds the five daily prayers and Friday congregational prayer.
