The First Church of Christ, Scientist, known as The Mother Church, is the headquarters congregation of Christian Science, founded by Mary Baker Eddy and chartered in 1879 in Boston, Massachusetts. It governs a worldwide network of branch churches, Reading Rooms, and Christian Science practitioners, and publishes The Christian Science Monitor and Eddy's textbook Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Its Boston complex includes the original 1894 church edifice and a 1906 extension.
