Holy Virgin Cathedral "Joy of All Who Sorrow" is the cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia's Western American Diocese, completed in 1965 in a Russian Revival style with gilded onion domes. It serves a San Francisco Russian Orthodox community founded by refugees from the Russian Revolution and later joined by Russian emigres from China. The relics of St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco are enshrined within the cathedral.
