About

Jasna Góra at Częstochowa is a monastery of the Pauline order, founded in 1382, and holds the icon of the Black Madonna that draws more pilgrims than any other Catholic site in Poland. Walking pilgrimages arrive from across the country each August, and the chapel keeps a daily cycle of masses and the unveiling of the icon.
