The Islamic Cultural Centre beside Regent's Park opened in 1944 on a site given by the British government, and the London Central Mosque that adjoins it was completed in 1977. The mosque holds the five daily prayers and Friday congregational prayer, and the centre runs a library, a bookshop and classes for children and adults.
