About

Mount Angel Abbey is a Benedictine monastery in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, founded in 1882 by six monks from Engelberg Abbey in Switzerland. The community operates Mount Angel Seminary, the largest Roman Catholic seminary on the West Coast, whose library building was designed by Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. The abbey survived a major fire in 1892 and continues its tradition of work, prayer, and hospitality on its hilltop campus.
