The sanctuary at Fátima grew around the place where three shepherd children reported Marian apparitions in 1917. It holds the Chapel of the Apparitions, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Basilica of the Holy Trinity, and receives pilgrims all year, most heavily on the twelfth and thirteenth of the month from May to October.
