Seattle Betsuin Buddhist Temple, also known as the Seattle Buddhist Church, is a Jodo Shinshu temple in Seattle's Chinatown-International District, founded by Japanese immigrants in 1901. Elevated to betsuin (branch temple with direct ties to the mother temple) status in 1954, it is a member of the Buddhist Churches of America and is affiliated with Nishi Hongwanji in Kyoto, Japan. The temple, a designated Seattle landmark, offers Sunday services, dharma school, and cultural programs including taiko drumming.
