Soka Gakkai International-USA (SGI-USA) is the American affiliate of Soka Gakkai International, a lay Buddhist movement rooted in the teachings of Nichiren Buddhism. Headquartered at SGI Plaza in Santa Monica, California, it coordinates roughly 90 local Buddhist centers and thousands of neighborhood discussion meetings across the country. SGI-USA centers practice around chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and promotes peace, culture, and education activities.
