Founded in 1924 by Christmas Humphreys, the Buddhist Society is one of the oldest Buddhist bodies outside Asia and is deliberately not attached to a single school. Its Eccleston Square premises hold a library, a shrine room and a year round programme of classes, and it publishes the journal The Middle Way.
