About

Trinity Lutheran Church, founded in 1839 by German Lutheran immigrants from Saxony, is regarded as the mother church of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Its pastor from 1841 to 1887, C.F.W. Walther, helped found the LCMS and served as its first president while also leading nearby Concordia Seminary. The congregation, in St. Louis's Soulard neighborhood, continues today as an active LCMS parish.
