Salvation and Liberation

Core tenets that state how a person is freed from sin, suffering, ignorance or the cycle of rebirth, and what that freedom consists of. This includes tenets on grace, faith and works, the path to enlightenment or liberation, the role of a savior or intercessor, karma and its resolution, and competing claims about whether salvation is earned, granted or realized. A tenet about what happens to a person after death once any such liberation is settled, such as the nature of heaven, hell or a final judgment, belongs instead under sacred history or, where it describes ultimate destiny rather than the path to it, is read alongside revelation and scripture for its textual basis.
