Corpse Spirits (Mythical Creatures)

Spirits that take over dead bodies in Indian folklore, such as the vetala, which haunts cemeteries and possesses corpses. An entry belongs here when its article describes a being that animates or lives in a corpse. The group page lists related creatures together so that a reader can compare how one kind of being appears across cultures and stories. Entries are placed by what their own article says, so each one sits in the narrowest group that its source supports, and the group page lists it beside the other members.
