Origin from 1842
The Articles of Faith of the Latter Day Saint movement are a statement of thirteen fundamental doctrines composed by Joseph Smith as part of an 1842 letter to the newspaper editor John Wentworth, subsequently published in the Times and Seasons and commonly known as the Wentworth Letter. Most denominations within the Latter Day Saint movement regard the thirteen articles as a foundational summary of belief, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has incorporated them into its scriptural canon. They address core beliefs about the Godhead, the atonement, church ordinances, priesthood organization, continuing revelation and Christian conduct.
