Hurrian Deities
Allani Gate of the Dead

Allani, whose name means simply 'the lady' in Hurrian, is the Hurrian goddess of the underworld. She rules the 'Dark Earth,' the Hurrian land of the dead, from a palace situated at the gates of the deceased's realm, and she presides over the passage of the dead into the underworld. As one of the few major goddesses of death and the underworld in the Hurrian pantheon, she held a position of considerable religious importance despite ruling over a realm of the dead rather than the living.
