Nchienge Woman of the Waters Nchienge is a Kuba water goddess known in tradition as 'the woman of the waters,' dwelling in the eastern waters of Kuba cosmology. In some versions of Kuba origin mythology she is named as the mother of Woot, the culture hero and first king of the Kuba people, linking the kingdom's founding lineage back to a divine, watery origin. Her place in Kuba myth reflects the broader importance of rivers and water spirits in Central African religious traditions.
