Hopi Deities

Sotuknang is a Hopi deity described in some tellings of the creation story as the nephew of the sun spirit and creator Tawa, already recorded in this same wave, who sent him to create the nine universes according to his plan. Sotuknang in turn created Spider Woman, also called Spider Grandmother and already recorded on this atlas, who served as a messenger for the creator and an intercessor between the deity and the people, and who in some versions of the myth creates all life under Sotuknang's direction.
