Tau is the personification of evil in Guarani mythology, the dark counterpart to Angatupyry, the spirit of good, in a tradition that frames much of the visible world as the product of a struggle between the two. Guarani myth holds that Tau fathered seven monstrous sons with a woman named Kerana, daughter of Marangatu, though one of the seven, Jasy Jatere, already recorded on this atlas, breaks the pattern by never appearing as a monster.
