Mayari Shadowed Eye Moon

Mayari is a lunar deity of Tagalog and wider Philippine mythology, one of several moon goddesses recognized across the Philippines' many ethnolinguistic groups. In Kapampangan and Tagalog tradition she is a daughter of the supreme god Bathala, already recorded on this atlas, and goddess of beauty, war, revolution, strength, weaponry and the hunt. Myth recounts that she and her brother Apolaki fought with bamboo clubs over dominion of the world; when he struck and blinded one of her eyes he felt remorse, and the two agreed to share rule, Apolaki over the day and Mayari over the night, though her light remains dimmer for the eye she lost.
