Tasmisu

Hurrian Deities

Tasmisu is the Hurrian god who serves as sukkal, or divine vizier and attendant, to his brother Teshub, the Hurrian weather god and head of the pantheon. In the Kumarbi cycle of myths, the central succession narrative of Hurrian religion, Tasmisu fights alongside Teshub against Kumarbi and the monstrous champions Kumarbi raises to challenge him, acting as his brother's closest ally and counselor. His role as sukkal placed him among the inner circle of Teshub's divine court, one of the pantheon's most important supporting deities even though he was never head of the pantheon himself.
