Pinikir

Hurrian Deities

Pinikir is a goddess of Elamite origin who was incorporated into the Hurrian pantheon, most likely reaching Hurrian religion through Mesopotamian intermediaries rather than direct contact with Elam. Her adoption illustrates the broader pattern of religious exchange across the ancient Near East, in which Hurrian religion absorbed deities from neighboring Mesopotamian, Elamite and Syrian traditions into its own pantheon. She continued to be venerated within Hurrian religious centers alongside native Hurrian deities such as Simige and Kusuh.
