Tupa, also spelled Tupan, is the word for God in the Tupi and Guarani languages, including in the Guarani creation myth. Guarani tradition holds Tupa to be the creator of the universe, of humanity, and of the spirits of good and evil, called Angatupyry and Tau; Tupa is also more specifically considered the creator of light, and is said to reside in the sun.
