Adgilis Deda, meaning Mother of Locality, is a goddess of fertility and livestock revered by the inhabitants of the mountainous areas of northeastern Georgia, such as Khevsureti, as the patroness of certain places and of travellers. She is portrayed as a beautiful lady adorned with silver jewellery, and after the region's conversion to Christianity she became associated with the Virgin Mary.
