Katonda is the name used for the supreme creator god in the traditional religion of the Baganda people of present-day Uganda, considered the father and leader of the Baganda pantheon known collectively as the balubaale. Katonda is credited with fashioning the first human, Kintu, and with bringing forth Bukulu, whose offspring make up most of the balubaale pantheon, and Katonda also oversees the afterlife and judges humans after death, while remaining a distant figure dwelling in the heavens rather than intervening directly in earthly affairs.
