Ilargi is the moon goddess of Basque mythology, her name simply meaning moon in the Basque language. Tradition makes her the sister of the sun goddess Eki, also recorded on this atlas, and, like her, a daughter of Amalur, the Basque Mother Earth. Ilargi is likewise said to return each day to her mother, a cyclical pattern mirroring her sister's solar journey and reflecting the moon's own visible cycle, and the two sisters together anchor the celestial pairing at the center of traditional Basque cosmology.
