Prayer compensation

Also Known As Catch-up prayer
Devotional Practices

Prayer compensation, known in Arabic as qada al-salat al-faita, is the Islamic practice of performing a missed obligatory prayer after its prescribed time has passed, to make up for a prayer lost to sleep, forgetfulness or a similar circumstance. Islamic jurisprudence treats making up a missed prayer as obligatory, grounded in a hadith stating that a forgotten or overslept prayer is atoned for by observing it once remembered, and holds that it should be performed as soon as possible except where a legitimate excuse, such as necessary work or health, delays it.
