Where Practised

This page groups religions by the regions where they are actually practiced today, not only where they began. Wikipedia notes that Islam is "the most widely practiced religion of Southeast Asia, North Africa, Western Asia, and Central Asia," while also having large communities elsewhere. Browsing by where practised lets a visitor see a religion's living geographic footprint rather than only its point of origin.

Standing as a Comparative Category
Contested: both halves of the compound are comparative terms supplied from outside. Sikh tradition states its own theology in its own words - Ik Onkar, the one being, without form - rather than by placing itself in a family. 2
Overview
What Defines This Grouping
Traditions of Indian origin that keep the framework of karma, rebirth and liberation while holding that there is one God, formless and without rival, and that reject image-worship and the authority of a priestly caste. 2

Dharmic traditions of one God

This group holds Dharmic religions of a monotheistic character, Indian-origin traditions that share the karma-and-rebirth framework while affirming a single God. The best-known is Sikhism, which teaches devotion to one formless creator.

The browser will find the tradition or traditions the atlas classes here. The entries describe each within the Dharmic family, noting how it combines the Indian religious inheritance with a strict monotheism.
