All Documentaries

Gathers screen works that document a religious subject directly: nonfiction films and television documentaries, archival and ethnographic footage, museum and university video segments, and factual series episodes that record real people, practices, rites and places rather than dramatize them through actors and scripted scenes. The heading spans full-length theatrical documentaries, short educational videos produced by museums, universities and religious institutions, and archival recordings of real ceremonies and interviews. A member belongs here for its direct, nonfiction record of its subject, distinct from the feature and dramatized films gathered separately that tell a story through scripted performance, even where a documentary uses staged reenactment as one technique within an otherwise factual account.
