East Asian Religious Rebellions

Gathers the millenarian and sectarian rebellions of Chinese and Japanese history: the White Lotus War, the Taiping Rebellion's own Christian-inspired kingdom, the Boxer Rebellion, the Hui Muslim Dungan and Panthay rebellions, the Ikko-ikki risings of Pure Land Buddhist leagues and the Shimabara Rebellion of Japan's persecuted Kirishitan peasantry, together with the An Lushan Rebellion, whose own classification as religious the record here notes as disputed. A member belongs here for a rebellion in East Asia organized around or substantially colored by a millenarian, sectarian or minority religious identity.
