The Pillar of Balance is the central column of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, running through the sephirot Keter (Crown), Tiferet (Beauty), Yesod (Foundation) and Malkuth (Kingdom), and in some diagrams through Da'at, which sits between Keter and Tiferet. It stands between the Pillar of Mercy on the right and the Pillar of Severity on the left and is the column that holds the two outer pillars in balance; the atlas's entries on those two pillars call it the Pillar of Equilibrium, and it is also known as the Middle Pillar. The Tree of Life arranges its ten nodes into three columns that belong to common categories, and the columns are usually symbolized as pillars. This entry records the middle one, so that the sephirot standing on it can be browsed and compared together.
