All Field Recording

Gathers scholarly and archival recordings made by an ethnomusicologist, folklorist or institution to document a specific musical performance, ceremony or oral tradition as encountered in the field, issued through an archive, library or specialist folkways label rather than produced as a commercial studio release. A member belongs here for its direct documentary purpose, capturing a real performance for research and preservation, distinct from the commercially released albums gathered separately and from the individually authored compositions gathered under Composition.
