The chupacabra, meaning goat-sucker in Spanish, is a legendary creature, or cryptid, reported in the folklore of parts of the Americas. Reports of the creature are generally associated with attacks on livestock, especially goats, that are found drained of blood, and stories about the chupacabra have circulated widely since the creature was first reported in Puerto Rico in the 1990s.
