Gathers the cathedrals, monasteries and cave complexes of the Georgian Orthodox Church, the autocephalous Eastern Orthodox church of Georgia with its own liturgical and monastic tradition distinct from the Greek, Russian and other Slavic Orthodox churches gathered under Christian (Byzantine) Sites. The heading spans royal cathedrals built by Georgia's medieval kings, monasteries founded by the Thirteen Syrian Fathers who brought organized monastic life to the country in the sixth century, and cave monastery complexes carved into the cliffs of eastern Georgia. A member belongs here for its place within Georgia's own national church and monastic history, distinct from the wider Eastern Orthodox sites of Russia, Ukraine and the Greek-speaking world gathered separately.
