Aquarius is one of the 88 modern constellations recognized by the International Astronomical Union. Its genitive form is Aquarii, its standard abbreviation is Aqr, it is traditionally shown as the Water-Bearer. It belongs to the Zodiac family of constellations. The constellation covers about 980 square degrees of sky, ranking 10th in size among the 88. Its brightest star is β Aqr (Sadalsuud) at apparent magnitude 2.87. It borders Pisces, Pegasus, Equuleus, Delphinus, Aquila, Capricornus, Piscis Austrinus, Sculptor and Cetus.
