Daksha, Deities Why this is disputed. The Rigveda names Daksha among the Adityas, the sons of the goddess Aditi, in one hymn, and in an adjoining hymn calls him her father instead, a circularity the text itself does not resolve. Later Puranic lists of the twelve Adityas vary in which gods they include, and not every version seats Daksha among them, so his membership in the group is affirmed in some tellings and absent from others rather than settled.
