Baruch ben Neriah

Jewish Sages

Baruch ben Neriah, who lived in the 6th century BCE, was the scribe, disciple, secretary and devoted friend of the biblical prophet Jeremiah. He is traditionally credited with authoring the Book of Baruch, a work that carries his name. His role as the prophet's companion and scribe is the reason later writings were attached to his name, and he is recorded here so that those writings can be linked to the person.
