This group holds founders of established, long-standing religious traditions and institutions, distinct from the New Religious Movement Founders group, which holds founders of movements arising in the modern era outside the older world religions. A figure belongs here for founding a lineage, school or institution within an existing older tradition rather than starting a wholly separate one.
