Islamic Art (Sacred Art and Iconography)

Works made for Muslim worship and learning, especially calligraphy, Qur'an manuscripts, architectural mosaics and decorated tilework, together with illustrated manuscripts that depict figures from Islamic tradition such as angels. An entry belongs here when its article treats the work as part of the artistic heritage of Muslim societies. The group page sets related works side by side so that a reader can compare how a tradition, medium or period pictured its sacred subjects.
