Abu Ishaq Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Nisaburi al-Thalabi, known simply as al-Thalabi, died in November 1035 and was an eleventh century Sunni Muslim scholar of Persian origin considered a leading Quranic exegete of his era. He authored the classical exegesis Tafsir al-Thalabi and Araais al-Majalis, regarded as one of the best and most frequently consulted works in the Islamic qisas al-anbiya genre of prophet stories, and he was also known as an expert Quranic reciter, traditionist, linguist, philologist, preacher, historian, litterateur and theologian.
