Ali Sher Hyderi was a Pakistani Islamic scholar, author and religio-political figure who lived from about 1963 to 2009 and served as chief of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama'at. He became chief of Sipah-e-Sahaba, an Islamist organization banned as a terrorist group in 2002, following the death of its previous leader Azam Tariq in a 2003 ambush, and he had previously also served as Sarparast-e-Aala, or patron-in-chief, of both Sipah Sahaba and Millat-i-Islamia.
