Obligation

This page groups performance works by how central they are to a community's religious life. Wikipedia notes that "in Black and Indigenous communities, dance is often inseparable from music and communal ritual," performance woven into obligation rather than staged as separate entertainment. Browsing this way lets a visitor tell a devotional performance apart from one intended purely for entertainment.
