Fraternal orders descended from or affiliated with Freemasonry itself, including its two major additional rites, an appendant order open to Masons and their female relatives, and a separately organized Shrine. All five formed in England or the United States between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and each extends or restructures the same core lodge system rather than drawing on an unrelated tradition.
